Tiffany “ The Wordmatician” Scales
Known as “Houston’s Extemporaneous Poet,” Tiffany “The Wordmatician”
Scales is one of the
most versatile and admired performance poets in the city. Recognized
for her unrehearsed and
audience inspired presentations, she has touched many hearts on stages
across the nation. Originally
from Alabama, Tiffany began writing at the age of four. She describes
herself as an “army brat”
who was blessed to travel the world and be exposed to diverse learning
experiences and people.
After high school, Tiffany began pursuing a finance degree, but
circumstances led her to obtaining a
degree in communications, Entertainment &The Recording Industry to be
exact. At the time, it
seemed like she had been side tracked from her aspirations, but these
encounters coupled with her
love for words actually provided the perfect platform to prepare her
for God’s purposes, and while
hosting an open mic and art event at The Secret Word Café, Tiffany
truly began to understand the
magnitude of her gift and how God had ordered her steps. It was during
this time in her life that
she realized, she not only had a gift with words, but was able to
discern the energy of her audience
members and create healing, one-of-a-kind poems without any rehearsal.
From that moment, she
decided that art was the cure and she would gladly be one of God’s
physicians. Since that time, The
Wordmatician has performed, hosted, and mentored through poetry
nationwide and was nominated
for Texas Poet Laureate in 2018. She is also the co-producer,
arranger, and writer of her five
albums, El Dorado (August 2018), El Camino (September 2018) WRDMTCN
(October 2018)
Throwback Thoughts (November 2018) and Lyrik the Wordmatician
(December 2018), and it such tracks
as “My Mind Though” that can make any listener fully appreciate why
she is described as “an
oracle.
